Cannabigerol (CBG)

Cannabigerol (CBG) is one of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It is considered a minor cannabinoid because it is typically found in lower concentrations compared to cannabinoids like THC and CBD. However, CBG plays a crucial role as a precursor to other cannabinoids.

CBG is derived from cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), which is one of the primary precursor compounds in the biosynthesis of cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. During the growth and development of the plant, enzymes convert CBGA into other precursor cannabinoids, including tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), and cannabichromenic acid (CBCA), among others. Through decarboxylation, which occurs with heat or time, these precursor acids are converted into their corresponding neutral cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBC, etc.).
